NEWS & UPDATES
October 2023:
A huge thank you to the people who helped with the event, the businesses that donated to the raffle, and most importantly everyone who attended our Fourth Annual Spooktacular Extravaganza!! Every year we look forward to this fun opportunity to raise money for a local charity and bring our community together! We could not do it without you all.
All raffle proceeds were donated to the Children's Cancer Fund of New Mexico, a nonprofit organization that provides programs and services to children with cancer and their families. They can help alleviate the emotional and financial burdens of childhood cancer.

July 2023:
Our first-ever social summer camp was a hit! Our campers had a blast working together while exploring the Bosque, gardening, creating firework-themed science projects, swimming, and playing at the park. Thank you everyone who participated and we hope to continue offering camps in the future.
This summer has been an extra hot one! To help keep our kids cool, we are having a water week at Sandia Sunrise Therapy, the first week of August. We will have water balloons, bubbles, squirt toys, and more fun activities for patients attending sessions that week. Keep an eye on your email for more details to come.

June 2023:
Join us in welcoming our new physical therapist, Alexandria, to the team! Sandia Sunrise Therapy is excited to continue growing and expanding the services we provide to our community.

Dr. Montaño recently passed a comprehensive exam to become a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Pediatric Physical Therapy. She is 1 of only 3 specialists in the Albuquerque area. This certification demonstrates her extensive knowledge and expertise in pediatrics. We are so lucky to have her as a part of our team, and as an advocate for the families we serve.

April 2023:
As many of you may know, the federal public health emergency ends on May 11, 2023. Additionally, state public health orders expired on March 31, 2023. After carefully considering current recommendations, Sandia Sunrise Therapy will no longer require masks, and masks will be optional for staff and patients. See the following changes below; these changes may be re-evaluated based on community Covid infection rates.
Masking:
Masks will no longer be required in clinic spaces or the pool
If adults or children are showing signs of illness, they will be required to wear a mask
If you prefer your therapist wear a mask during your child's appointment, let us know at check-in, with the exception of the pool
COVID-19 Policy:
No other changes to the current policy
Our current restrictions for attendance in sessions will continue to be limited to one adult per patient and no siblings. This is required to maintain compliance with our building's occupancy restriction
Check-In:
Continue to call the front office and check-in for your appointment
We do not have a waiting area, so we ask that you continue to wait outside or in your car until our therapist is ready for you

March 2023:
Join us on the morning of April 15th for a one-on-one developmental screen with our physical and occupational therapists. This is a free screen for infants 0-24 months old.
The developmental screen will look at general gross motor, fine motor, and social emotional skills, including a more in-depth neuromotor evaluation called the Hammersmith Infant Neuromotor Evaluation (HINE). The HINE is an evidence-based tool used to detect infants at higher risk for neurological impairments.
If you would like to sign up for a free developmental screen, call our office. Appointments will be on a first-come, first-served basis with limited availability.
